26. Secured $21 million in CARES Act funds for #MN55a

This is an item where I am really proud of our team for focusing on what our individual communities are needing during this COVID pandemic.

In 2019, House Tax Chair Paul Marquart came to Shakopee for a roundtable discussion with Shakopee residents on taxes. We had a great chat about what people care about and would like to see.

The Federal Government allocated $841 million dollars to the State of Minnesota via the CARES Act to help local governments deal with the COVID.

Chair Marquart and our Minnesota House team negotiated a deal with Senate that we are really proud of. It took care of all Minnesotans with per capita payments to counties, cities, and townships.

Here is what all of us in House District 55a received:

  • Scott County: $17.7 million
  • City of Shakopee: $3.1 million
  • Jackson Township: $36,000
  • Louisville Township: $34,000

This funding was negotiated by the Legislature and allocated by Governor Walz. This is another way that teamwork helps all of our communities!
