Schools Close for the Remainder of the 2019-20 Year

Governor Tim Walz will announce later today that schools will continue with distance learning through the end of this school year and not meet for regular classes.

It is so crazy to think about how our kids and grandkids, nieces and nephews went to class on a Friday in March with no clue they wouldn’t be back again this year.

I couldn’t be prouder of the amazing work we are all doing together to meet the needs of our community through this crisis.

??‍? Thank you to all of the amazing teachers and administrators who have worked so hard to make this transition to distance learning. You have done an amazing job with a horribly difficult situation.

?‍?‍? Thank you to all of the parents and caregivers who are helping make distance learning a success for Shakopee students. Distance learning is hard.

??‍? Thank you to all of the paraprofessionals, bus drivers, food service, and other workers who make everything happen in our schools. We are working hard in the MN House to get more pay and funding for you but haven’t had success with the MN Senate. We’re still working on it.

Shakopee Public Schools is doing incredible work meeting needs of Shakopee residents. Thank you so much for all you are doing and for all the work that is yet to come.
